A little DIY Halloween Decor

I love all the ideas for Halloween home decor floating around the web.  Our home at the current state is really not that decor friendly though. We have a HUGE wood stove in the middle of our family room, and a wall in between our kitchen and our family room (for another month or so) so I have to pick and choose wisely what I make, I love how they turned out!! They add just the pop of color we needed, and don’t take up too much space. wpid-wp-1413378395541.jpg

it’s official…

we have finished getting new windows and siding!!  It has been a long road coming but we are sooo happy with the end results.

house before and after

Before we had the installers put in the windows and siding we had to paint the garage door (oops which is not in the picture) and all the gutters and eaves, also the trim around the front door.

I am hoping to add more photos soon.

Time flies-if you blink you’ll miss it.

Seems just like yesterday that we were bringing him home from the hospital, as first time parents, not knowing what to expect…or even what to do for that matter.  Living 2 and a half to three hours away from parents..it was all on us.  I am thankful for a loving husband that provides for us, and believes in us day in and day out.

Fathers Day just came and went and what a great day of celebrating Daddy that was. DSC_0167

with a great race down in Albany…it was our first time there and definitely not our last!

Now it’s on to planning our first summer pool party of the year with our great friends…then 4th of July, then Grandpa’s birthday then #7 for Trenton.  (not to mention repainting garage door, underside of all our eaves, window seals, and ripping out our deck to get ready for NEW windows and NEW siding *woop woop*)

Very berry green smoothie recipe

Our Favorite Smoothie Recipe

wpid-IMG_20140527_102050.jpg

We have always loved smoothies for breakfast — both the littlest and I are not lovers of breakfast {at breakfast time} so we love to try new smoothies.  So far this by far is our most favorite.

Very Berry Green Smoothie

1 Banana Frozen in to chunks*

1/2 cup mixed berries {or any berry of your choice}

1/4 cup greek yogurt {we love honey flavor}

2 TBSP dry oatmeal

1/2 cup apple juice {or milk, orange juice, pineapple juice}

1 big handful of baby spinach

Directions:

Add all ingredients to blender and blend till smooth. If it won’t blend up easily you can always add a little bit more liquid.

*Note- I always freeze my bananas into about 3 chunks per banana onto a foil lined baking sheet, then when they are completely frozen I put them all into a gallon sized ziploc bag.

I never really liked the icy chunks when you have to add ice to a smoothie so I always try to use everything frozen.

My youngest son has eczema on the inside of his knees and elbows….we have a cream for it that seems to work but it is pricey-so I have been trying these ideas and so far so good.

such great ideas to take to people even if not going through hard times…new babies, elderly, busy, lots of reasons to bless families with a planned meal.  The link on pinterest was not accurate so I went and found the right one–go read more here.

These are the yummiest bread sticks EVER!!  I have made them 3 times now (twice in one day by request from the littles)

I made these yesterday and took them to my sons motocross race….and now they are gone!  So so yummy and just how I remembered them from elementary school.

I thought these Broken Crayon Candles would be so fun for the boys to make…(and for my sanity to get rid of some of those broken crayons in the drawer)
