Craft Room re-do

I have slowly been figuring what I need to finish my craft room, I knew the look I was looking for, and I knew what pieces I was going to use that I already have, but actually going through with the clearing off of the bookshelves and moving them was the part that takes some time-

wpid-wp-1400611656126.jpgSorry phone pics and the light is SOO off-but you get the point! I am still waiting to find just the right door for my table {little skinnier, and a little longer-like what we all wish for right ;-)}  also so it makes for a little bit more workspace-but for now untill I find the door that calls my name this will work great!

wpid-wp-1400611624429.jpgHere is a different angle-I am excited for the way it turned out! Now I also am in look out for a wide dresser that I can paint and do a few tricks to – that I have up my sleeve and have been dying to try!

Friday Pinterest Favorites-quilt edition

This week is all about quilts…I am so into them and can’t seem to get enough.  I have been looking at all the different techniques, tutorials, patterns, and sizes.

LOVE the patterns, colors, triangles, and the backing, find the tutorial {the link says tutorial but there is not one :-(}  here.

Chevrons and polka dots..whats not to love!  its for sale on etsy here

such a fun quilt…I will probably never venture to doing but i like the idea of a pattern down the middle..find the tutorial here.

This week I am going to share my latest pins-there is no theme…just COMPLETELY random.

Such cute ideas for neighbor gifts…things that you may have laying around, and ideas that won’t break the bank! read more here

My youngest son has eczema on the inside of his knees and elbows….we have a cream for it that seems to work but it is pricey-so I have been trying these ideas and so far so good.

such great ideas to take to people even if not going through hard times…new babies, elderly, busy, lots of reasons to bless families with a planned meal.  The link on pinterest was not accurate so I went and found the right one–go read more here.

These are the yummiest bread sticks EVER!!  I have made them 3 times now (twice in one day by request from the littles)

I made these yesterday and took them to my sons motocross race….and now they are gone!  So so yummy and just how I remembered them from elementary school.

I thought these Broken Crayon Candles would be so fun for the boys to make…(and for my sanity to get rid of some of those broken crayons in the drawer)

it’s that time of year again….

This year is flying by I can’t even believe that school will be out in three short months. In four short months I will have a SEVEN year old—oh goodness gracious, Well excited to see what we get accomplished this Break!…I plan to finish a lot of projects, organization, and CLEANING!!

I have printed some cute decor prints to re-decorate a little for spring.  I need to put them in frames, I printed a checklist for Little T- for morning, afternoon, and night. I am really trying to ingrain a routine into him so I don’t have to sound like a broken record all day long.  I don’t think I am asking too much- he is six now-and should know what is expected of him.

I really want to make a growth chart out of reclaimed wood-organize our linen closet, get a after-school snack system going, and a reward bin filled!  A few months ago we started a punch card system-and a 6-dime-a-day electronic system, (maybe a post about both of these soon) so far they have been working pretty well, except the bin needs re-filled.  Also I need to be better about really sticking to *when you are good and finish your stuff, then it results in a reward*

My list is a mile long I feel like-

*home-made gifts for 2 friends babies

*re-claimed growth chart x3

*organize linen closet

*2 crib quilts for two adorable little girlies

*spring cleaning

*spice cupboard

*pantry labels

*sew a few tote bags

*frame daily checklist

*gallery wall

*spring decor

*sand and paint dining table and benches

*cut some more limbs off our crazy amount of trees

Ok so I guess we will start with this list and see how far we get this week 🙂

a few new projects

We at the Edwards House have been crazy busy, as of March 5th (great bday present) I have a part time job, and I was helping a friend with some day care, I knew that having a job was going to be a little more work-but I didn’t think this much haha-I think getting ready for work (daddy and the boys) is more work than actually getting myself ready.  Even with all of the extra work, I LOVE IT so far. Not to mention the little extra money that goes along with it 😉

A couple weeks ago I made Trenton’s little friend a marker roll for his Birthday-I was planning on a crayon roll but then Trenton informed me that Brody likes markers better-so … Marker Roll it is.

Then of course Trenton wanted one too-but he wanted a colored pencil roll…

cloth diapies

So these ones are for a friends little boy who should be here in December but they have been a fun project that we have been working on.  Definitely a learning process-pattern, shape, snap placement, fabric choice, fold over elastic or inside elastic…so many possibilities it is endless!

Envelope pillow cover

So I decided to add a couple personalized touches to the boy’s room-

With Trenton I wanted to try the ruffled Letter–lets just say it was the first time i made this and now i know where i can improve. Next time i will not have white in the “letter” fabric (since you can see the white stripes).

On the back of this one I did the blue/green/white stripe fabric to give it some visual interest.

I did the “envelope” design (sorry forgot to take a pic-I will try to post one later) but the pillow measured 16 inches by 16 inches so on the back I cut two pieces of the fabric 17×10 and overlapped them so i can always wash and/or put a new insert.

and on Brayton’s i wanted to try the freezer paper stencil – so I cut out the “B” out of freezer paper and ironed (shiny side down) onto fabric and then spray painted,  YES  spray paint you heard me right, spray paint the whole piece of fabric-then just sew the front to back just like a slip cover.

Only one mistake on this one..the B is just a little too far into the corner.

Then i sewed just like Trenton’s the back is an envelope, 2 peices cut 17×10 and overlapped.
